AADA Conference 2014
April 3-5, 2014
Recap of Events
Conference 2014 was definitely one to remember and filled with educational and entertainment opportunities as well as great memories. Guests stayed at the Hyatt Regency Tamaya Resort in New Mexico which was filled with vibrant culture, making it the perfect getaway to relax. The three day conference was kicked off on Thursday night at a welcome event where entertainment was provided by the talented Leadership Council followed by a western themed reception. Friday morning featured an engaging Dental Health Education Breakfast and a day trip to Santa Fe for some shopping followed by a Grab a Sock Find a Friend ice breaker, allowing each attendee to meet someone new. Saturday’s activities included an ADPAC breakfast where Dr. Charles McGinty shared recent legislative updates and that afternoon, Leslie Franklin spoke on “Getting the Most Out of Your Alliance” which was followed by an exquisite Presidential Tea. Finishing off the weekend’s events was the FDHE Auction and Beulah K Spencer Awards banquet where members danced the night away.
The Beulah K Spencer award recognizes Alliance members making an outstanding contribution to their Alliance and the community in the areas of dental health education, legislative advocacy and well-being for the dental family. Members eligible to receive this award must have been members for ten (10) years or less. This year’s honoraries were Diane Bogan, Daisi Owens, and Cherri Goad.
The Foundation for Dental Health Education held their Annual Auction, raising nearly $7,000 for Dental Health Education projects. The Foundation for Dental Health Education (FDHE) was founded in 1990 to fund initiatives that promote good oral healthcare. Through our fundraising efforts, we sponsor the development of public outreach programs, access to care initiatives, educational materials, web-based public information resources, training, and other innovative efforts to educate the public.
These are just a few of the Conference highlights, to reminisce over this spectacular event please visit our Flickr page and check out all of the great photos! Handouts that were given at the conference can be found on our Resources Page.
The Alliance holds its Conference in locations every year throughout the United States. This meeting provides fun, friendships, insight, motivation, and opportunities to learn about dental health education in your communities, well being for our families, and legislative advocacy for the new and seasoned Alliance member, as well as learning new skills for personal development.
